Small Grants Program

WM awards a limited number of small grants to support special requests from faculty members or student groups to bring other (typically lesser-known) authors to campus for one-time readings or class visits.

To apply for Words Matter support, please send a brief proposal to words@caltech.edu or fill out our online proposal form.

Proposals should include:

Requester's name & contact information, plus

For visiting writers:

• date(s) of proposed visit
• brief description of
  • writer & his/her work
  • potential contribution to CIT community

For literary projects:
a brief description of the

• date or time period for project
• project/activity to be funded
• anticipated value of literary project proposed
• benefit to Caltech community

All proposals should include amount requested & reason (e.g. honorarium, travel, printing, etc.).

Suggested amount of support for one-time events: $250-$750
